The Orthodox Union’s Synagogue Initiatives and Yachad are proud to announce a panel discussion focused on disability inclusion in synagogues. The event, taking place on Monday, February 27th at 7:30 PM, will be hosted at the Young Israel of Woodmere and feature opening remarks from Rav Shay Schachter, Posek of Yachad, and Rebecca Mayer, Director of Yachad NY.
Moderated by Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the OU, the panel will feature insights from three Yachad parents: Rabbi Yehuda Minchenberg, Rabbi Menachem Penner, and Mrs. Martha Hershkovich. The panel will offer a unique perspective and provide attendees with valuable tools to enhance their understanding and connection to individuals with disabilities.
As Adir Posy, Director of Synagogue Initiatives put it, “When we interact with Shuls in our network, we consistently hear that ensuring that our Shuls are a place where every member of the community feels welcome is a priority for the leaders of Shuls across the country. We are so proud to present this program with Yachad to share ideas and best practices toward advancing this all-important value.” Chani Herrmann, Associate Director of Yachad adds, “We are thrilled to bring together this panel for a thought-provoking and enlightening discussion. Parents of children with disabilities have much to contribute to this important topic and we are grateful for their willingness to come and speak to the community.”
No reservations are required to attend this exciting event. We look forward to seeing you there!
For those who cannot attend, the panel discussion will be streamed starting February 28th. To register for this, please visit https://www.ou.org/shul-inclusion/
