Yad B’Yad is a life changing summer experience that brings teens with and without disabilities together on a five week travel adventure across Israel. Our varied itinerary creates a multi-faceted trip that enables participants to feel connection, inspiration, and growth all in one place.
Our unique program promotes the inclusion of all individuals and creates a space where each person contributes and feels they are part of something greater. With the guidance of an all star staff, participants engage with Israel, our homeland, in an unparalleled way. Participants form strong friendships and develop leadership qualities as the summer progresses.
Yad B’Yad spends time touring, volunteering, and learning – all in an inclusive way. We visit Jerusalem, an army base, the Kineret and Dead Sea, and so many fantastic places in between. We ride camels, rappel down mountains, sleep in the desert, explore historical sights, and have the most unbelievable Shabbatot together. We package food for the needy, clean up National Parks, bring joy to the elderly, and work with employees who have visual impairments. We have uplifting Tefillot, group wide learning sessions, optional advanced shiurim, and opportunities for participant-led chaburot. Fun, friendship, and meaning are packed into each day of our trip.
After a transformative summer, participants return home as passionate leaders. They appreciate inclusion as a mindset, an attitude, a way of life and strive to bring that magic home. Yachad has chapters across North America and Israel with year-round Shabbatons, events, and special programs. Yachad’s Informal Education Department is dedicated to working with high school students and enabling them to facilitate Yachad’s inclusive framework within their schools and communities. Yad B’Yad is a summer experience with an impact that lasts and is a beautiful beginning to a lifelong journey.
