July 27, 2015: Chevron, Gush Etzion, & Yom NCSY

Today was a meaningful and fun filled day. We started by heading to Chevron in our new bulletproof buses headed to Marat Hamachpaila to visit where our avot and imahot are buried. We then went to the Gush to have our first meat meal (shwarma) after the nine days. We then went to the Zomet institute to learn about the halachic aspects of pikuach nefesh on Shabbat and see all the cool toys the zomet institute has built to assist doctors, hospitals and needs. After the museum we visited another makolet to stock up again on snacks because we all love eating. We then headed back to the hotel to get our yachad apparel on and head to Yom NCSY. Bus one arrived bringing the ruach while waiting for bus two. Once we arrived at Yom NCSY we enjoyed a great barbecue and met all of our friends on NCSY summer programs. After that there was a huge concert starring Shlomo Katz with fireworks and a light show going simultaneously.  All of the different summer programs danced together which created a sense of Achdut. After that there was a very powerful speech given by Racheli Frenkel the mother of one of the three boys who were tragically killed last summer. Racheli spoke about the power of a connection with the land of Israel and the Jewish people can create. When it was time to board the buses to head back to Ramat Rachel, all of us had lost our voices and were so exhausted from Yom NCSY and a great day.
