Hi again! This is Pelah (from Chicago) and Nava (from Miami).
Last night started the sad day of Tisha B’Av. Yad B’Yad started the programming with the reading of Eicha followed with a big circle outside with singing, stories, and reflections. Efraim Wiener had an amazing and meaningful story about his little cousin. We went to sleep with a deeper understanding of this fast day and how to connect to something that seems so far behind us. In the morning, we woke up for Shacharit and learned about the Kinot with our learning groups. Then we watched a movie called The Imitation Game,” which was based off a true story. After the movie, Rabbi Turetsky from Shaalavim for Woman spoke to us following Mincha. After the speech, there was free time. Pelah went to a chabura and Nava decided to rest. Then we had a learning group headed by Nechama and after, we got on a bus and drove to a very nice lookout place and sang the fast away. An hour later, we were on the bus again to the Botanical Gardens to say Maariv and break fast on amazing food. After our bellies were full, we care back to the hotel, had an attitude of gratitude and finished our meaningful day. We will sadly see you on Tuesday!
